Wow. That's quite a statement about Distance. I'd say I'm queasy about it, but I'd never put it in the same category as those 25x25 time-wastes.
My feelings having done all of Erich's puzzle on his site is that many of them seem to fall immediately, and many seem to take awhile, with a bunch of fiddling, to fall. The question is whether you can determine which of these is the case early on if you bother to look at it.
I'm guessing a 5x5 (could be 5x6) so with 13 numbers there are 2 missing distances of all those possible. Provided its not too soon on the long end that you hit the missing distances, it may go just fine.
