My USPC score (maybe)
My target goal was 200.

I scored (presuming no typos)... 201.

Most brilliant puzzle: Tetris Crisscross. Elegant, lovely logic.

Most frustrating puzzle: Closing the Loop. I must be misunderstanding the directions -- I get an impossibility. This really should've been a puzzle I solved, yet I wasted time simply proving to myself it couldn't be done.

Best performance: Fences Variation. I might have even beat Thomas's time on this one. I finished in something like 1:30 flat.

Biggest disappointment: Atomic Fusion. I *should* have got this one. Really I should have. The bit that kept sticking me was one of the 6-pointed stars in the lower left corner of the puzzle (the SE one of the NW-SE pair). The square just to the left seems to need to head NE and close off the ability to connect those two stars, and I couldn't find anywhere else on the grid to generate symmetry. *sigh*

Maybe you had the same misunderstanding on Closing the Loop that I had for a while -- namely, assuming that a room couldn't be visited more than once?

If I made no mistakes, I got 199... hmph. :)

Tetris Crisscross was indeed nice. I found myself restarting it when I miscounted how many L-shapes there were, but it wasn't too much of a setback, and the whole thing was very pleasant.

Closing the Loop I charged through. I rather liked the way that one played out. It may have taken me longer than I wanted it to, but I enjoyed it.

I took one look at the Fences and decided "fish out of water - what else we got".

Now Atomic Fusion... I still think that one's impossible. I spent about half an hour after the time ran out mulling over that bloody thing and STILL run into contradictions every step of the way...

Traffic Signs is my disappointment, though. I spent a good chunk of time on it, not getting anywhere; after the time expired, I made quick guesses at it, and solved the whole puzzle within ten seconds. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!

My vote for most misvalued puzzle: Hex House. Five points my arse. That wouldn't be worth my time if it were thirty.

I'll probably make my own journal entry on this rather than clutter up your comment box any further. - ZM

Looking at Hex House, I didn't really have a clear idea how to approach it, and then the first thing I tried worked. Yay for luck, I guess.

Great job on the fences variation. I probably took over 3 minutes, maybe 3:30? It was a neat puzzle and had a lot more forced logic than I expected.

Close the Loop, as [info]lunchboy commented, needs you to use rooms twice. I had the exact same experience as yours though and felt the puzzle "broken". Then I remembered it was a USPC and so it was much more likely my interpretation was wrong.

Tetris Crisscross and Packing for Hungary were really nice, Tetris being the better of the two. I went in really unsure how I would find these, and they ended up being very nice.

Atomic Fusion on the other hand ....

After realizing my Closing the Loop interpretation mistake, I solved in 3 minutes. *sigh*

Did _anyone_ solve Atomic Fusion? Do we really have an impossible puzzle here? I can usually go blazing fast on Spiral Galaxies, which is why I presumed this puzzle to be cake, but I still really have no idea how to handle that hanging star there.

I'd really like to revisit it and solve it legit before looking at the solution. However, I haven't been able to get to grips with doing that yet. I plan on leaving for dinner and a movie but maybe late this evening ....

I have my doubts still. I tried a lot of ways of getting those stars to work which got me thinking like a chemist that I need to imply rotation out of the plane but that can't be in the spirit of the rules so I gave up.

My wife (the chemist) is also trying a go at it. (She also likes Bridges because she considers them "chemistry puzzles".)

The connecting bars don't affect symmetry. There is a giant molecule that tripped me up for some time, as it was difficult to see how to connect the opposite sides and partition the remaining atoms into valid molecules.

(My answer was 2,2,2,5,6,6,7,8,23).

I just tried this and got the same results as sheehan (although I found mostly things other than the giant molecule firsat, then a subset of it, then had to figure out that all the stranded bits (and some of my other molecules) were part of the giant).

The star you're talking about is part of a symmetry set formed by, from that star, going SE, NE, NE, NE, SE.
